For decades, marijuana has been a very taboo topic in our society. In fact, since the 1930s and 1940s, there have been many exaggerated anti-marijuana campaigns run in newspapers, magazines and even on TV as technology advanced to try to scare people away from the drug.

These types of propaganda advertisements would call it terms like “the devil’s lettuce” and spew such things as smoking it would cause you to commit murder, smoking it would cause you to immediately die and other egregious claims.

In America today, the switch has entirely flipped on how people view marijuana and cannabis in general. Not only is it evident by the number of states that have legalized cannabis in some form or another, but there have been an exponential amount of new cannabis product companies that have been recently created.

Just like any other type of company under the sun, these cannabis product companies need feedback from their client and customer bases to understand what they need to do to improve their products, services and marketing strategies.

This is where The Green Time steps in to help. This cannabis-focused research community was created to gather open and honest feedback from its community of cannabis consumers about cannabis-related products and services in order to give cannabis-related businesses a chance to improve, grow and become successful.

If you are a cannabis product user, you most likely have opinions on these types of topics. You could become an influencer in the cannabis community if you decide to join The Green Time and participate in its surveys.

Background on Cannabis Legalization in the US

In 18 states, medical and recreational cannabis is legal. According to this interactive map from DISA Global Solutions, as of December 2021, those 18 states are Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Vermont, Virginia and Washington.

For transparency, DISA Global Solutions is a leading, third-party administrator that helps employers create smarter compliance programs with its comprehensive services such as drug and alcohol testing and other screenings of that nature.

Currently, there are only four states where cannabis is fully illegal:  Idaho, Kansas, South Carolina and Wyoming.

In seven states, CBD Oil is only legal while every other type of cannabis product is illegal. People could even face criminal charges if they are caught with possession of cannabis. These states are Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.

In Nebraska and North Carolina, people will not face criminal charges if they are caught with cannabis, but it is fully illegal to have possession of it.

The other 19 states have a mixed bag of cannabis legality when it comes to medical and recreational cannabis and criminal charges for possessing it.

The citizens of states that have not fully legalized all types of cannabis yet are trying hard to get their state legislatures to change their mind.

In fact, as of January 2022 in Ohio, advocates for legalizing recreational cannabis fell 13,000 signatures short of getting their potential legalization bill into the Ohio state legislature for a vote.

Recently in July 2021, South Dakota legalized medical cannabis, though in November 2021, the South Dakota Supreme Court ruled against legalizing recreational cannabis.
